What Will You Learn as a 计算机科学 Major?

• A series of foundational computer science and mathematics courses in data structures, algorithms, and parallel and distributed computing provide a strong base of theoretical and practical knowledge you'll use every day.
• Advanced electives build on what you've learned, diving into topics such as networking and communication, security, machine learning and artificial intelligence.
• In addition to technical expertise, you'll prepare for a successful career by learning to effectively work within a team and become familiar best practices within a professional, legal and ethical framework. Select students gain practical experience working as system administrators for the department, managing our computing facilities.
• A senior capstone project brings it all together. You'll have the opportunity to leverage everything you've learned as you work on a project team under the direction of a faculty member solving actual problems. Capstone projects are often developed with alumni supervision, giving you additional opportunities to make lasting connections and expand your network as you complete your computer science degree.
